Beauty Favourites 2015

Well, we are already two weeks into the new year, but I still wanted to show you my favourite products of 2015. Better late than never, right? A bit of makeup, haircare, skincare and some random favourites...all the good stuff!:)
 Skincare/Hair Favourites

La Roche-Posay Serozinc
I love this light mist over my face as a toner. It helps my makeup last longer and prevents spots.

REN Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil
This is my favourite serum this year. I have combination, acne-prone skin which is also dehydrated. I had a REN Serum that I ran out of back in 2014, which was the Omega 3 Night Repair Serum (shown on the picture below) but I didn't repurchase at the time as I had several other serums to go through. I started missing it last year and I had to realise that this product doesn't exist anymore. The most similar in the range judging from the name was this Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil. I honestly don't know if they changed much in the ingredients or just gave a new name and a smaller packaging (used to be 50 ml, now only 30ml) but for me it is the same feel. It is very moisturising, does leave you with a bit of shine, but it absorbs in the skin after 5 minutes leaving it very soft and healthy looking. I only use it in my night time skincare, but in the morning I can see the difference as the makeup applies better everytime I had this on for the night.

Pixi Glow Peel Pads
I was in M&S and wanted to buy a fresh bottle of the Glow Tonic, but they were out, when I noticed these peel pads. Containing 20% Glycolic Acid and advertised as an Advanced Exfoliating Treatment, I thought I have nothing to lose so I gave them a go. And I am so happy I did! I use this 4-5 times a week on my face and on my hands. Leave it on for 3 minutes and wash it off with cold water, then apply my REN Serum and moisturiser on my face, and hand cream on the hands. The pads are not smooth by any means, and after wiping your face it goes a bit red and stings, but it just shows me that they do work. Somehow this and the REN serum works so well together, I can only recommend trying both!

Yes to Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub
This provides a nice scrub after the cleanser, it makes sure every makeup and cleanser residue is off my skin. I know some people don't like scrubs, but my skin is used to them, and when I stop using this one,  I get spotty and dull skin.

Dove Hair Pure Care Oil Nourishing Treatment
I have pretty good hair to start with, I just leave it alone. I don't colour it, try to leave it to air dry and not use heat on it if it is not necessary. Using this hair oil made my locks stronger and shinier which is always great. Smells amazing and will take forever to finish a bottle.

My favourite way to take my makeup off is with this cleanser. I take two pumps and start massaging it on my dry face until I see the makeup dissolve. Then I just simply wipe it all off with a warm, wet cloth. All the makeup is gone...

Makeup Favourites
You probably heard everyone rave about this, and I'm not gonna be any different. It is a great champagne highlighter, perfect shade of glow for light girls like me. I use it on my cheekbones, on the cupid's bow, in the inner corners of my eye, and sometimes as an all over lid colour when I can't be bothered with more eyeshadow. It is a great price for the amount you get, it will last you forever.

This powder has been among my most used products for around 7 years. By pressing it in my skin and then blending it with a buffer brush, it sets my face for the day without moving or caking. It provides extra coverage if you like to go for a full coverage look and comes with a mirror so is great for touching up.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
This foundation is a favourite of mine for years, I always have a bottle of it. I buy it in NC15 which is a bit light for the summer but I usually mix it with either a darker light coverage foundation or a bb cream to make the coverage lighter. On its own it is a medium-full coverage foundation that lasts me through 10-12 hour shifts even in hot summer weather conditions.

MAC Omega Eyeshadow
This colour looks like a big nothing in the pot, but it is my favourite eyeshadow this year 'cause it is so versatile. I use this to fill in my brows, as a shadow in the crease and under the eyes. You could probably even use it as a contour shade. Goes well with pinks, creams, champagne colours, it is the perfect crease shade for everyday use. I will have to get a new one very soon by the look of things.

Milani Baked Blush Dolce Pink
A pink blush with a bit of gold running through it, it does have bits of glitters in it, which might bother some though. When I use this I don't need a highlighter, as it gives a nice sheen to the cheeks and wakes up the face.

L'oréal Volume Million Excess Mascara
I have pretty good lashes to start with, they are long so I like to go for mascaras that have volumizing properties. I have gone through tubes and tubes of this. The size of the plastic wand is just perfect for my eyeshape. I prefer it after 2-3 weeks of use, when it starts to dry out a little bit, because when it is new and a bit runnier my lashes tend to stick together more and don't separate as nicely. It does not fall or crumble during the day, but when it comes to taking my makeup off, it glides off in seconds.

L'oréal Superliner Superstar
I got into using liquid liners this year, but I have to admit that I still struggle a little bit to get things even on both eyes. This liner is the best I found so far, has a fine tip, that helps creating a nice wing and a fine line close to the eyelashes, but it is also easy to make a thicker line. But of course practice makes perfect when it comes to eyeliners!

L'oréal True Match La Touche Magique
I fell in love with this because I find it hard to find a nice shade of concealer that is light enough, highlighting, blends nicely, stays on all day and comes on a drugstore price. This ticks all the boxes! I use it in Ivory Beige, which is a perfect shade for my NC15 skin.

Extras
Listerine Advanced White Mouthwash
You know those mouthwash that basically burn your mouth cause they are soo minty and you don't end up using them? Well this is not like those. I went through bottles and bottles of this stuff since they stock them in the UK, and I could see the difference it makes with removing stains and whitening within the first week of using it. I love this stuff!

Philips Lumea Prestige SC2007/00 IPL Hair Removal System
I am a hairy girl. I have good, strong hair on my head, long eyelashes and my eyebrows are thick in spite of over plucking them for years when I was a teenager. But I have hair everywhere else as well that I'm not so happy about.
I wasted so much time/energy/money in my life on trying to get rid of unwanted hair on different parts of my body by waxing, shaving or epilating.
When I saw that this at home IPL removal was on offer for 300 pounds I didn't think much and ordered it. And I don't regret it one bit. I use it biweekly on my underarms, legs and on the bikini-line. I could see the change after 3-4 uses. First I noticed that the hairs grow back slower and finer, and now I have patches that don't grow back at all. I remember when I had to shave my armpit everyday, and now I can go without shaving for two weeks without a problem. I can't wait for the first summer when I won't have to worry if my legs are still smooth from shaving them a day before or hide them on the tube, lest the people sitting opposite notice my hairs started growing back...

Gucci Bamboo
I ran out of J'adore from Dior (which I use since I was 17), and I wasn't sure if I should buy an other bottle of that or try something new. Perfumes (and fake tanning :D) are a part of beauty that I'm not that confident about or interested in, but I decided that I go for a hunt and find a new scent. For a long time I couldn't decide between Sí (Giorgio Armani), Black Opium (YSL) and this because all three smell beautiful, but finally I went for Bamboo. I'm not the best at describing scents, so here is the breakdown:

  • Top: Italian Bergamot, Orange Blossom
  • Heart: Casablanca Lily, Ylang Ylang
  • Base: Deep Sandalwood, heady Tahitian Vanilla and unique   grey Amber accords
  • I like that it is not too overwhelming, yet very feminine and floral. It is perfect for daytime or night, and I also love the packaging!

Well, these were my absolute favourites of the past year. All of these I'll continue using, but I can't wait to get some new things to try out in the close future.
Did you have any favourite product last year?

I'll see you in my next post!:)
